Paper One Sample Question

Select a passage from a novel you have chosen to study where a transaction between characters occurs which has serious consequences for their destinies in the narrative. By paying due attention to the context of the passage, outline how you would stage the transaction in order to convey its importance to an audience.


For this question, work with your group to choose a brief scene, discuss how you would stage it in terms of director's vision, number of actors/characters, layout of the stage, set design, costuming, and tech. Then work together to actually begin staging it (not memorized). We will perform them in the next class in the Black Box.
